Save the Date, Tree Planting, and a Special Celebration
Just some quick notes this time around in Social Forestry and other news. Let’s get right to it.
We had an excellent time at the muddy but quick ReLeaf Michigan tree planting this past Friday, November 2 with the City of Detroit, Enterprise, and the Arbor Day Foundation. A great group of volunteers gave 60 trees their forever home in Forest Park in just over 90 minutes.
Coming up next, there is a Tree Planting being done by The Greening of Detroit. It’s Saturday November 10th starting at 9am at Patton Park (2301 Woodmere St, Detroit, MI 48209). They will be planting 69 one-inch trees out of 233 total on the project. The remaining trees will be planted starting the following Monday November 12th (Veterans Day observed) and will continue each day until all the trees are planted. Because it’s a contracted planting, they can only use experienced tree planting volunteers. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org
Save the Date! On Giving Tuesday, November 27th from 5-8 pm Social Forestry Project will be having a Fun(d)raiser (it’s a working title) at a local watering hole to be announced soon. Come join us for a beverage of your choice and hang out with Social Forestry Project Board Members and find out about our plans for Spring 2019.
Speaking of 2019, our first event will be the Tu BiShvat Tree Celebration at Yad Ezra in Berkely on Tuesday, January 23, 2019 from 6-8 pm. It will be an informal talk/class celebrating the Jewish Tree New Year. Come join us and sample some maple syrup and white pine tea. To register please email email@example.com
That’s all for now. Stay leafy and be excellent to each other.
